Herberton 8 Hour Entries Open

As you can see from the poster to the left, the Pump N Pedals 2009 Herberton 8 Hour is approaching and entries are now open.

The race will be much the same format as for 2008 with solo and team entries available. The course for 2009 will see an extra 2km of single trail as well as a few changes we're sure you'll all enjoy.

For those who haven't ridden the Herberton 8 hour or any other 8 hour for that matter, the concept is straight forward. Ride a set 14km mountain bike trail loop as many times as you can in 8 hours. You can ride it on your own (if you're game) or in teams of 2, 3 or 4. Lots of prizes on offer and you even get a free t-shirt with your entry.

This year will be online entry only, with entries closing on at midnight on Wednesday 5th August.

Paluma Push

The 2009 Paluma Push point to point cross country race hosted by the Townsville Rockwheelers Mountain Bike Club will be held on Sunday 19th July. Check out the website http://www.palumapush.com/ for more information.

Entry is limited to 500 riders and this is a pre entry event only with registration closing on the 15th July.

There are two course options, a social 40km course and a more challenging 60km (could be up to 70km this year) race course. The course covers some bitumen and dirt road, rainforest loop (race classes only) and lots of bush single track and fire trails. A great fun race and well worth the trip to ride and support the Townsville Mountain Bike Club.

From what we've heard, accomodation in the Paluma township is sold out, there might be some camping left at Hidden Valley near the finish. Other options are to stay at the bottom of the range, Ingham or Rollingstone and make the trip up the range in the morning.
