Tuesday 24th August - We need lots of help with marshalling etc for the RRR - anyone who is capable of getting to Mt Molloy, please turn up and volunteer your services. Anyone who is driving for a competitor needs to make themselves available if at all possible, we're expecting a very large field so there's lots of work to be done.

Saturday 21st August - Just a friendly reminder for everyone/anyone entering the RRR Classic next Sunday: Registration will close at 9.30am...

Check the Forum for comments on the new XC course! And don't be afraid to register for the forum, it doesn't cost anything.

Monday 16th August - Some notes from the meeting tonight:

Everyone is requested to turn up to the next working bee this Saturday to finish the XC track so that the work focus can then shift to the Downhill and the MTX track. See Glenn's notes in the Forum for more details.

The following weekend is the RRR, so there will be no organised work done on the tracks; however if you are available to work that weekend, contact Glenn Jacobs and he'll let you know what needs doing.

The meeting came up with some great ideas to improve the MTX competition - contact Brad Jones if you would like to help out (it's not all hard work!)

The date for Round 4 of the XC has been changed to October 2, due to the enormous number of riders we've been getting - no-one wants to run XC and DH on the same weekend, and who can blame them?

The date has been set for the 2005 RRR Classic - it will be held on Sunday 28th August 2005. So write that one down too!

Sunday 15th August - Results and points scores for the XC and PE are now available on the Results page. I discovered you can't run a series for Pony Express - the teams change too much, with riders swapping to different teams, PE riders changing to run Solo, Solo riders teaming up to run PE and similar stuff happening. I gave up...

Here's something unusual - there's a meeting tomorrow (Monday) night! What a surprise... At Mal's place, 7.00pm, see you there!

Saturday 14th August - It's getting late (11.10pm), the photos are now up from today's Round 2 XC but the results aren't yet... They'll be up tomorrow (Sunday) while everyone else is at the working bee to finish the modified XC track. Thanks to Normie for putting the results together following a computer battery failure halfway through the race. Time for a new battery! Let me know what you think of the photo page layout - new software.

Tuesday 10th August - Much smaller meeting last night - hope this isn't a trend... If you signed on for the Nationals organising committee, you need to be at the meetings or pass on an apology in advance.

The working bee at the weekend was successful, but as usual we need more bodies. The XC track repairs didn't get finished, and there's a race on this weekend. Which means mainly the older parts of the track will be in use, otherwise you'd be carrying your bike. There will be another working bee this Sunday (August 15th) at 8.00am to finish the track.

Don't forget Round 2 of the Club Championships - XC and Pony Express - is on Saturday August 14. Registration from 2.00pm at the McGregor Road site (not the container).

Thursday 5th August - Sometimes we get a bit snowed under and can't get the posters for the next race up as quickly as we/you would like. Other times Russell surpasses himself! Posters for the RRR, Round 3 MTX & DH, and Round 3 XC are available to your right. And we haven't even finished Round 2 yet...

Please don't forget the working bee on Sunday! (See below)

Monday 2nd August - Following tonight's meeting, we've got a couple of things to cover:
The first working bee towards the Nationals will be held this Sunday commencing at 8.00am at the Club site, with the main emphasis being on the XC track. Due to a shortage of tools (thanks to the morons who think it's cool to steal from us) everyone is requested to bring tools with them if they have them. Weedeaters, shovels, picks etc - everything welcome. If enough work gets done, the track (or parts of it) will be used for the XC/Pony Express the following weekend. You will also need to bring plenty of water and your food for the day. It is requested that you leave your watch and your mobile phone at home!

More details on the RRR - as requested by many people, but we were only able to finalise a lot of things tonight. A poster will be available hopefully tomorrow, Russell is hacking away at his new computer producing the poster while I'm writing this.

The RRR will be a one-day event, a point-to-point dash from Vains Oval at Mount Molloy to Port Douglas via the Bump Track.

Program:
Registration will commence at Vains Oval at 8.00am and will close at 9.30am.
Riders briefing 9.45am
Race start will be at 10.00am.
Race distance is 40km
Cost is:
Racing classes:    $25.00 (A minimum of 4 riders will be required to constitute a class as per MTBA rules).
    Social class:        $10.00 per rider
Additional notes:
All riders are required to be members of an MTBA affiliated club. Annual membership of CMTBC is $20.00
All riders must have an MTBA Day or Annual racing licence. Day licence: $10; Senior Annual $72, Junior Annual $55.00

Sunday 1st August - Typical. Perfect weather for the Downhill... and the light rain yesterday made the Downhill track perfect for racing. Remember Dennis's record time of 2:50.97 from Round 1? Forget it. Dennis with two runs at 2:48.71 and 2:48.43, and Ezra taking the top spot with a 2:48.36! How's that for close racing? Not to forget James Miller in Junior U19 at 2:55.44 and many other stunning performances. And great to see the "injured soldiers" taking a major part in running the day - thanks to Normie and Berend! Results on the results page, and pics on www.gordong.com now.

Don't forget Nationals meeting #3 tomorrow (Monday) night at Mal's place, 7.00pm. Things are starting to come together - come along and find out what we've been up to.

Saturday 31st July - Why does it always threaten rain on MTX days? Again a small field with 8 juniors nominating and only 4 seniors. We can always hope that the weather is the reason... The win in Senior went to Darren Oleskiewicz, with Thomas Bridges taking out the Junior class. Unfortunately with the small numbers we can only run a single Junior class, which isn't fair on the younger guys. But at least they are out there having a go! We'll see what tomorrow brings, with the Downhill getting underway from around 0900. MTX photos are available on www.gordong.com and the results are on the Results page.

Tuesday 27th July - Another well-attended meeting last night, and things are really starting to get rolling for the Nationals! Don't forget, there will be a meeting every Monday night, same time, same place. Come along and do what you can to help. Check out the forum, and you'd better believe we're already getting quite a number of inquiries from interstate and overseas about attending the event!

Don't forget that Round 2 of the Club's MTX and DH Championships will be held this weekend at Smithfield. Times etc are on the top poster over there on your right. XC is a couple of weekends later (bottom poster). Plenty of work to be done, some of the riders want to make some changes to the MTX track so some bit of labour is required. Also a site meeting on Sunday at 0800 to have a look at changes to the DH track.

The Club has purchased a new software program for tracking memberships, licenses etc. If you are a club member, please email us and let us know your correct, current email address so that the records can be updated.

Tuesday 20th July - Following last night's well-attended meeting, things are starting to really roll for the MTBA Series opening round. On the Calendar page, you will see the list of working bee dates. As Kam pointed out, we've got 17 days to get everything in tip-top condition to make this a Series opener to remember! Please note that there will be a meeting at Mal's place every Monday evening from now on! That means you can block in your Monday nights from now until at least the 8th of November. It might sound a lot, but it's the only way we are going to get everything done. There are new discussion areas on the Forum, we hope everyone will make use of them - registration is free. Please join us there!

Tuesday 13th July - Notice of Meeting: There will be a general meeting at Mal Lindsay's residence (rear of Geo Pickers, Mulgrave Road) on Monday 19th July at 7.00pm to get things really rolling on the MTBA Series Round 1. Please do your very best to attend - this isn't going to happen without heaps of help! We'll try not to keep you too long, but the more people we can get there the easier things are going to be in the long run.

Monday 12th July - This is almost too well organised... the posters for the next round are on your right and also in the bike shops. Thanks Russell!

Sunday 11th July - Full results for the XC / Pony Express have now been posted on the Results page, thanks to Leoni for doing the scoring and compiling the results for us!

Saturday 10th July - Please note the change of date on our calendar for the Paluma Push - it's been changed to September 19th. We were advised it was the 12th and built our calendar around that date, so now that RockWheelers have changed the date it conflicts with Round 3 of our Championships.

Saturday 10th July - Today's XC / Pony Express was a great event with 44 riders taking part. Brief results: Individual: 1. Andrew Roberts 2. Wes Reibel 3. Nathan Jones. Pony Express (Male) 1. Adam Fletcher / Dave Woods 2. Dan Foley / Rod Tindale 3. Dom Barber / Joel Cuoberg. (Female) 1. Kim Kelleher / Andrea Dell Ozzo 2. Erin Bell / Cindy Vanest. The rest of the results should be posted tomorrow night (along with any spelling corrections!) If you were there and enjoyed the race, talk about it in the forum, that's why it's there. And of course the photos are up on www.gordong.com

Tuesday 6th July - Just a note about the combined XC / Pony Express this Saturday - the race will commence from the trailhead (McGregor Road) not from the Club site. With access causing problems, this is going to make life a heck of a lot easier for all concerned.

Monday 5th July - The Club Information Line is now back up and running! If you need information, ring and leave us a message (if it isn't answered) and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. The number is 0409 157 217.

Sunday 4th July - Round One of the Downhill was conducted today in way better weather than yesterday's MTX (it didn't rain!) Some new faces racing, some new Club members (welcome, guys) and a new record down the hill - Dennis Beare at 2:50.97. Beware of low flying beares... Results and points score on the Results page, which has been organised to load faster now, and photos as usual are on www.gordong.com Don't forget the XC event next Saturday, should be a blast - normal XC and Pony Express combined.

Saturday 3rd July 2004 - Round One of the Club Championships (MTX) has been run and won in the mud and the rain, with Darren Oleszkiewicz taking out Senior and Charlie Ponticello taking the honours in Junior. Full points score on the results page, all the pics on www.gordong.com Downhill tomorrow, let's hope it stops raining!

Thursday 1st July 2004 - Just a reminder about the race meeting this weekend - check the poster on the right for details!

Saturday 26 June 2004 - Fixed the NQSS XC results (wasn't my fault either) and also fixed the calendar dates for Round 1 of the MTBA Series to 6/7 November not 5/6 (probably was my fault but you'll never get me to admit it...)

Tuesday 22nd June 2004 - Corrected results for the U19 Men in the North Queensland Sunshine Series are now on the Results page. Don't blame me, it wasn't my fault :)

Friday 18th June 2004 - Finally have the results for the North Queensland Sunshine Series following the final round at Mackay last weekend! They are available on the results page.

The poster for the next DH/MTX event is available from the right hand side of this page. The poster for the XC event will be available next week.

Tuesday 8th June 2004 - Wanna race? Have we got some news for you... At the General Meeting held on Monday night (that hardly anyone attended!) we formulated a race calendar for the year. You can find it on the Calendar page. It was also decided that, in order to keep the costs lower (don't blame us for the SunCorp Games, folks, the pricing wasn't our fault!) XC races will be $10 per person per event, while DH and MTX will be $20 each but if you enter both DH and MTX, it will only cost you a total of $30. Licence and membership fees excluded, of course - you still have to pay those. So go look on the calendar right now, and start marking in your holidays. And don't forget - these events will not run themselves!

Saturday May 29 2004 - We have a new Forum! If you click on the link on the left, the new forum will open in a new window (this should not affect anyone running a pop-up stopper). Please register and join in the fun. We can have as many headings and categories as we like, so if you think of something you would like to see there, let a committee member know and we'll consider it.

Wednesday May 26 2004 - The cumulative points tally for XC has now been posted on the Results page. (And it's been corrected, too!)

Monday May 24 2004 - Added a new link to the Links page (where else?) - this one will take you to the Far North Wilderness Bicycle Tour for those who have enough time/money to do more than just fall off the side of a mountain somewhere in the Deep North :) Look in the Community section of the Links page.

Saturday May 22 2004 - Thanks to Marcia at Mackay Cyclopaths and Warwick at Townsville Rockwheelers, we now have the cumulative points tally for the NQ Sunshine Series posted on the Results page. Go have a look at how you are doing (or how you might do if you go to Mackay in June!) Of course, it just shows up what a mess we made of the results after Townsville, but who cares?

Friday May 21 2004 - A few dates and things, so take notes!
