Thursday 6 April - Another working
bee is required at Smithfield this Saturday (8th April) as the work
required is quite extensive. Please come out and help as the sooner we can
get the place fixed, the sooner we can go racing. 3.00pm at the McGregor
Road trailhead.
Sunday 26 March - As you might have
expected, the Day/Night Pony Express set down for April 1 has been
postponed to a date to be advised. In it's place, there will be a
working bee at Smithfield to de-Larry the place. Operations will
commence at 3.00pm from the trailhead, please bring chainsaws,
brushcutters, anything you can think of to help clear the trails, repair
bogs and the bridge that is now 60m downstream from where we left it! If
you've got no gear, just bring muscles.
A note from Marcia at Mackay - If you are coming down for the SunCorp
Games, please pre-nominate and please book your accommodation urgently, or
you'll be sleeping on the deck for the entire weekend.
Tuesday 14 March - Calendar updated with
the details of the MTX series.
This series will take place on a brand new track currently being constructed
at Aloomba, south of Cairns. There will also be a competition
starting soon for YOU to design the track! You'll be shown a
photograph of the site, and it will be up to you to design what YOU think
the track should look like. Watch this space for further details of this
comp, sponsored by Damian Jones at Certified.
Tuesday 7 March - We hear that some
people have been told that there will be no transport available for DHers
at Mackay. Marcia assures us that this is incorrect, transport will
be provided to the top - make your own way down...
Wednesday 1 March - The 2006 Club
calendar is now available on the (where else?) Calendar page... There's
more to come, we just can't announce it yet.
The SunCorp Games is being held in Mackay this year, and is being used as
Round One of the Tri-Cities. Marcia says she's got at least $3,000 in
goodies to give away already, and she's still harassing people - including
you:
"Program starts on Friday night with 4 Cross at the Walkerston BMX track
and Cross Country and Downhill at Kinchant Dam on Saturday and Sunday
respectively. Food canteens will be operating at all these events - so
please support them. Camping is also available at the dam in the vicinity of
the resort or motel accommodation in Mackay some 40 minutes away. Please
also book early as accommodation will be scarce because of the other
sporting events. Marcia Eves 0428533200".
All events will be run to MTBA class structure, and Marcia suggests you get
your entries in now so that you can make sure you get your bag of
SunCorp goodies etc.
Thursday 16 February - A proposal from one of our members, Ray Wright:
"I have done some groundwork and would like to propose a ride on the June
long weekend and am interested to know if the members would support this.
The ride would be a two day ride following the old Cooktown to Laura railway
line to the Normanby river and return along the old Cooktown road. The ride
days would be the Sun and Mon with a camp at the Normanby river. Both the
railway and road have historical interest and most of the riding is along
single-track and through bush. As this is our Discovery weekend there would
activities for non riders.
I am also planning a family Discovery ride around the points of interest in
Cooktown (approx 6km) on the Sat afternoon. I would like to get some
feedback as soon as possible so i can get the planning underway and liaise
with the Discovery Festival committee. The dates are June 10 11 and 12 2006
Looking forward to a Cooktown get together

Sunday 5 February
- RRR-Classic information page updated...
Tuesday 24 January
- Congratulations to Club member Tracey Hannah who once again
has come away from the National Championships as the 'leading lady', while
brother Mick had a mechanical and dropped his Championship to Nathan Rennie,
whose recovery from injury and return to form couldn't have come at a better
time. Well done, Nathan.
The date for the Paluma Push is set as 23rd July. More details as
they come to hand, or go to the Townsville RockWheelers website.
Sunday 1 January -
A Happy New Year to all our members and visitors. This is going to be
a good one!
Tuesday 13 November The date has been
set for the 2006 RRR Classic point to point race. You'll be off and
running on 20 August 2006. Would you believe this is the only Sunday
within sight that won't have the competitors racing up the beach underwater?
Start booking your travel plans!
Sunday 11 November -
Pilba Peak was
soooo hot... Even just walking around with a camera was difficult. Pics
in the
usual place.
But
that's the last event for this year, either for Pilba Peak or CMTBC. We'll
be keeping you up-to-date on happenings throughout the holiday season, so
stay tuned!
Wednesday 7 November - Pilba Peak is
holding another Poker Ride this Sunday morning, registrations at 0900
and race/ride start at 0930. Dan says he's removed all the 'cruel bits' and
reversed the course so that the final ride for the year is easier for
everyone. See you there!
Sunday 27 November - Well, that was the
AGM... all 45 minutes of it including the trophy presentations. Nothing has
changed, it's still Mal, Barbara, Gordon and Damian leading our dedicated
team of people who put all this together for you - people like Normie doing
the DH timing all year, Rob un-digging holes in tracks, Luke, Leonie, David
and Dean putting together H8H - the list goes on, and it's only with your
help that we can get everything done. As at today's date, we have 197
financial members in the Club with ages ranging from 10 to 69. You've done
yourselves proud, guys!
Speaking of proud guys, have a look at this lot (the only photos I took all
day - I actually rode my bike!)

Thanks to the 38 attendees. Pity the gas ran out for more sausages, but we
can't get everything right!
