We had a very good response to our first Trail Alliance of Cairns working bee. Approx 20 Volunteers kindly came along and produced an amazing result.

Under the guidance of World Trail’s Glen Jacobs, we learnt how to re-align a creek crossing, removing errosion and abrasion issues, not to mention making the section of track, far more fluid and fun.

The existing creek crossing was erroding and damaging the tree roots. We used a lot of rocks to armour the trail and the roots and created a very buff little piece of singletrack.

Other works were also completed. Some mowing through the Green loop, rock armouring of an erosive creek bend below 1st finger creek, and some flowy berms were installed below the creek crossing.

A huge thanks goes out to Glen for his time and the Volunteers who cut, dug, and transported massive rocks. There were smiles all round when we could see the quality of the finished product. Now we cant wait to ride it.

This is the first of many monthly 4 hour  Sunday morning Trail Alliance gatherings. We will attack another problem area next month. Stay tuned.
