XC4 Results

A little late but not forgotten and apologies to everyone for not getting the results published earlier.

Anyway, thankyou everyone for showing your support with another great turnout of 71 riders who braved the fine dust to compete on Saturday. It was a bit chilly for the volunteers who pulled out the cardigans while watching Mark Viney smoking up the track. Mark came first overall followed closely by James Banner-Smith and Andrew Costello.  Abby McLennan in preparation at the time for the Croc Trophy was uncontested.

A big thanks to all the volunteers who helped out, Lauretta, Janie, Jill, Mal, Peter, Jeanette, John and Jason and our sponsors for the day Genesis Fitness Club, Maui Jim Sunglasses, Pump n Pedals and Butlers Body in Balance.

Another big thankyou goes to Lauretta Howarth for volunteering to be Race Director and organizing the event so we could all race.

2009 RRR Results

Another perfect day in Tropical Far North Queensland for the 19th running of the RRR. A packed field of 300+ riders took to a 38km or 44km extended course on what was a fast, dusty and by all acounts fun course.

The honour of having their name on the prestigous RRR trophy, for the men goes to Under 19 rider Andrew Costello, with a time of  1h31:55.38. Less than 1 second back, so we're talking a bunch sprint here, was Sean McCarroll in 2nd and David Wood in 3rd, both previous winners of the RRR. For the ladies, Abby McLennan made it 3 years in a row to take the overall win in a time of 1h45:18.21. Next in were Lauretta Howarth for 2nd and Selina Stoute 3rd in the overall class for women.

Full results for the categories and overall are on the links below.

Hope you all had a great day riding and enjoyed the infamous RRR course and the not so bumpy and rather fast bump track. Next year is the 20th running of the RRR and you'll definately want to come back and ride this one.

Big thanks to all our sponsors for the 2009 RRR, including Bikeman, Cairns Plan Printing, The Bicycle Centre, Discovery Cycles, Edge Cycleworks, Pump N Pedals, The Croc Trophy, Trinity Cycles, NQ Heli Worx, Butlers body in Balance. Thanks also to the FNQ Hospital Foundation for the course marshalls and food and drinks and all our volunteers for the weekend.

XC3 Lap Results.
(A note on the lap results and these are lap records for each rider and they are ordered by race number. The purple time is the fastest lap of the day. Andrew Costello took out that honour with a 19:45.47 on his first lap. The green numbers indicate the best lap time as the race progressed. So if you have all green numbers for your laps, then each lap was faster than the previous.

The 2009 points tally after round 3 here. (Updated September 11 2009)

Thanks again to Mark Viney for taking on the Race Director role, setting an excellent course and all round great event.
